about the ARTIST

Bella Nirvana is a New Zealand visual artist whose work explores the relationship between light, colour, and memory. Inspired by the changing landscapes of Aotearoa, she creates paintings that celebrate the quiet beauty found in everyday places.
Having painted from a young age, Bella has always been drawn to the creative process. Although her artistic journey has taken different paths over the years, painting has remained a constant thread, one that eventually became impossible to ignore. Today, it forms the heart of her practice.
Working in oils, Bella builds each painting through hundreds of expressive marks and vibrant layers of colour. Rather than simply depicting a landscape, she seeks to capture the feeling of being there. The warmth of afternoon light, the stillness beneath a canopy of trees, or the quiet sense of reflection that a familiar place can evoke.
Each painting becomes a window into a world where colour, light, and atmosphere invite the viewer to pause, reflect, and experience the landscape as it is felt rather than simply seen.
Her paintings sit between observation and abstraction, encouraging viewers to slow down, look more closely, and rediscover the beauty found in the familiar. Each work reflects a belief that the landscapes we remember most are often those that quietly shape who we are.
