About Me.
Born and raised in New Zealand, I have always been inspired by the quiet beauty of the landscapes that surround us, the shifting light, changing seasons, and moments of stillness found within nature.
My work explores the relationship between light, colour, and memory, capturing the emotional experience of a place rather than simply its appearance. Through expressive brushwork and layers of vibrant colour, I seek to reveal those moments when the familiar becomes something more. Where sunlight, atmosphere, and memory transform an ordinary landscape into something deeply felt.
I am drawn to nature's quiet transitions: the spaces between light and shadow, stillness and movement, and the fleeting moments that invite us to slow down and truly notice our surroundings.
Working in oils, I build each painting through hundreds of individual marks, allowing colour to create depth, movement, and luminosity. From a distance, these fragments come together to form a cohesive landscape; up close, they reveal an expressive tapestry of colour and brushwork.
Each painting is an invitation to experience a landscape not only as it appears, but as it is felt.

Where It Begins
Each painting begins with a place that has left an impression on me. Rather than recreating a landscape exactly as it appears, I focus on capturing its atmosphere, light, and the feeling it evokes.
The process is not about copying what I see but revealing the emotional experience of being there. How colour and light transform an ordinary place into something deeply memorable.
Building the Painting
I begin by establishing the composition and overall values before gradually building the surface through hundreds of individual marks and layers of colour. Instead of blending paint smoothly, I allow distinct fragments of colour to sit alongside one another, creating depth and luminosity as the painting develops.
While each painting begins with careful observation, intuition plays an equally important role. I allow the work to evolve naturally, responding to colour, rhythm, and light as each layer unfolds.
Stepping Back
Throughout the process, I am constantly stepping back from the canvas to view the work from a distance before returning to make small adjustments. This continual movement between painting and observing guides every decision, ensuring the work reads as both an abstract arrangement of expressive marks up close and a cohesive landscape from afar.
The Final Layer
The final stage is one of refinement. I continue adjusting colour, light, and balance until the painting feels complete, often adding only a few carefully considered marks.
Every finished work is the result of thousands of deliberate decisions, allowing the image to reveal itself gradually. Up close, each painting becomes a tapestry of expressive colour and individual marks; from a distance, those fragments come together to create light, atmosphere, and memory.
